If you are lucky enough to have a reformer at home but would like instruction to help you get the most out of your machine safely and effectively then online reformer sessions might be just the thing. I have been instructing patients on the reformer for almost 30 years now and my combined knowledge of biomechanics and exercise therapy means I can tailor a session that will target areas of your body you never knew existed! All you will need is your reformer and a phone or lap top so you can see me and I can see what you are doing. Each session is 60 minutes and costs just £60.

You may also want to see my library of reformer exercises to pep up your routines. I will always give you explanations of which muscles you are using and why the exercise might be useful to you.

BARRE

It’s not ballet! I discovered barre in 2016 and was instantly hooked. The sense of strength and control I felt was amazing, unlike any other form of exercise. Barre combines ballet and Pilates, but don’t let that intimidate you—you don’t need experience in either to enjoy it. We use a barre for balance and music for motivation! The beauty of barre lies in its variety, moving through big and small ranges of motion in all directions, targeting deep muscles you probably didn’t even know existed. It boosts stability, strength, mobility, flexibility, and even your mood!

STRETCH CLASSES

I prefer active stretching over passive stretching, so all my stretch classes incorporate movement through range. I use tools like balls and the barre, along with mat-only stretch and mobility sessions. These are perfect for rest days or times when your energy is a bit low. You can also tag them on to the end of your workout for the complete package. You will refreshed and ready to go again after just 15minutes.

QUICK DRILLS

Feeling bored at the gym with the same old routine? If you're out of ideas and looking for something fresh or just need a little boost in your day, this is the solution for you. My collection of sports drills is both functional and fun, guaranteed to get you excited about working out. Add these into your cardio and strength routines for variety. Or, use them as stand alone pause breaks during the day. Little bursts of activity are sure to pep up your mood and productivity.

PRE-SEASON SPORTS COURSES

Do you prepare your body for seasonal activties like skiing or tennis? Injuries often occur because people launch into their chosen sport without any preparation at all! These six week courses will help you to get your body fit and ready so you can enjoy your sports. You can do these at home with minimal equipment. I have worked with numerous ahtletes, both elite and amateur, over many years and my knowledge of biomechanics allows me to target the requirements and demands of many sports.

BODY FIX-BODY FIT

These short videos accompany my book Body Fix, Body Fit. In each one, I take a deeper look at the exercises, offering extra detail and useful variations. Grab the book, turn to an exercise, and give it a go — then watch the accompanying video for a bit more insight into how it works and why it could benefit you.

MEET TRISH

TRISH FORMBY
Sports Physiotherapist, Clinical Pilates Instructor and Barre Instructor

👟 My Journey – Trish Formby

I started teaching exercise classes in the late ’80s—think Lycra, Reebok High Tops, and big hair. It was the golden age of aerobics, and I was hooked. That passion naturally led me to physiotherapy, and I completed my undergraduate training in Perth, Australia in 1992, followed by a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy in 1998.

Soon after, I moved to the UK permanently, and one thing led to another… I never quite made it back to Perth. In the late ’90s, I was one of the first physiotherapists in London to integrate Clinical Pilates with manual therapy which was the start of an incredible journey in my profession as a physio. I spent many years in private practice in London, most of them running my own clinic in Kensington. It was a vibrant time—working with elite athletes across tennis, rugby, football, and swimming, as well as actors, musicians, and writers. The field of physiotherapy research was evolving fast, and I was right there in the thick of it.

My fascination with biomechanics allowed me to tailor treatments in unique and effective ways. I also lectured on the Sports Physiotherapy course at UCL and developed and delivered spinal rehabilitation courses under the banner Integrated Rehabilitation for the Spine in the early 2000s as wel as courses on shoulder rehabilitation to fellow physiotherapists.

Now based in West Sussex with my husband, two boys, and our dog Banjo, I’m still just as passionate about movement, recovery, and the science behind it all. I’ve tried most injuries (I am my own guinea pig) so I have first hand experience of healing myself. I love mountain biking, tennis, golf, skiing, walking and barre, and yes—I still love Lycra. At age 56 I feel strong and physically fit and I want to stay that way. If I can help other people to feel that way too I would be very content.
